Founded in 2024, Aimed at Eternity
The St. Jude's Vocation Ministry was founded in 2024 at the request of Bishop Edward Burns, the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Dallas. He recognized the substantial need for a redesign in how parishes educate, support, and encourage men and women in their vocational discernment.
Fr. Andrew Semler, the pastor of St. Jude, commissioned the initial committee members to find a way to implement the bishop's vision at the local level. This ministry is the ongoing work of that committee. We are honored to have been given this responsibility, and we ask God's blessing upon our work.
St. Jude, pray for vocations in our parish!
We have compiled a list of resources designed to help every person better discern God's will in their life. From the Universal Call to Holiness, to the Ordained Priesthood, as well as Holy Matrimony, and Religious Life - this page has something for everyone.
Part of the committee's responsibility is to design and organize events that encourage and allow vocation discernment. These include participation in the yearly carnival, inviting dynamic speakers, or hosting dinners for the youth.

Lord Jesus Christ, son of the living God, untiring is your love for me.
Thank you for my vocation – the call you have given to me. Thank you for calling me to live, love, and work for you in a special way – firstly in the universal call to holiness, and also through my particular vocation to marriage, religious life, single life, the diaconate, or the ordained priesthood.
Give me the strength to say ‘yes’ to this call every day of my life. Soften the hearts and open the eyes of those who do not yet know their vocation – so that we, as one body, may build up your Church on earth and be forever happy with you in heaven.
Fill me with your Holy Spirit so that everything I do, everything I say, everything that I think and feel may be in union with your one and holy will.
I ask this especially through the intercession of my patron St. Jude, through your holy and Immaculate Mother, and through St. Joseph her most chaste spouse. Amen.
